as someone who speaks a few of the languages on these charts, they’re pretty true about difficulty of language acquisition. they really need to brush up on other stuff, like korean NOT using chinese characters anymore.

I pass by stuff like this all the time and think “my followers need to hear this” instead of reflecting on my own re-blogged advice. The people she’s talking about aren’t always maliciously or even intentionally not good for you, they just are. When you’re around you always lose something, money, gas, a piece of yourself- while never getting anything in return. Take a moment today to really think about what she means.

Release anything that no longer serves you. You know who these people are. You don’t even need to think that hard, you just know. Let go of them. Don’t carry unnecessary burden in your life. Let go of the toxic people in your life.

Lost: I don’t know the context of this comic since I don’t read much manga (correct me if I’m wrong) but one thing I will say that is problematic about this is that PoC in the US whether or not they were born in raised in the US for years or where here for generations, we are not seen as Americans which I’m ignorantly assuming that the Milton character is supposed to be representing. Maybe he’s representing ignorant non-East Asian peoples in general I’m not sure. But I think that’s something to keep in mind.

With that being said, I think this can start great dialogue between PoC when it comes to us appropriating each other’s cultures, which does happen a lot. And yes PoC can appropriate too! When I used to run fucknofetishization I’ve encounter many Black people who appropriated and fetishized East cultures. And also fetishized East Asian peoples. In fact I used to follow some popular PoC bloggers who did/do.

This is not just a white people thing, while they may make up most of the fandom (?) they aren’t the only ones doing problematic and racist things. This needs to be addressed. Making excuses like I’ve seen people already do with this comic does not help whatsoever.

We need to create dialogues between us because it’s about damn time we people of color started valuing intra-poc relationships, otherwise how are we going to move forward?

Dunno how relevant this is, but I always think knowing the context of the larger series and the author’s intentions are useful when considering a page.

Peepo Choo was written by American Felipe Smith, who is actually Jamaican/Argentinean. The manga was intended for a global audience, despite that it was published in Japan (also, an incredible feat — I think that’s the first ever published and serialized series by an American)

The series is about otaku and Japanophile Milton, a black kid from Chicago, who goes to Japan to after being obsessed with a television show. Peepo Choo (and basing all of his opinions of Japan on that show.) On the other side of the pond is Reika, a young Japanese model who is frustrated by being constantly sexualized in her culture and dreams of going to America for FREEDOM from misogyny (ha ha.)

Sure, many of us start on this path when we first feel “same sex” or “same gender” attraction (though what is sex? And what is gender? And does anyone really have the same sex or gender as anyone else?). But queerness doesn’t stop there.
This is a somewhat controversial stance, but to me queer means something completely different than “gay” or “lesbian” or “bisexual.” A queer person is usually someone who has come to a non-binary view of gender, who recognizes the validity of all trans identities, and who, given this understanding of infinite gender possibilities, finds it hard to define their sexuality any longer in a gender-based way. Queer people understand and support non-monogamy even if they do not engage in it themselves. They can grok being asexual or aromantic. (What does sex have to do with love, or love with sex, necessarily?) A queer can view promiscuous (protected) public bathhouse sex with strangers and complete abstinence as equally healthy.
Queers understand that people have different relationships to their bodies. We get what it means to be stone. We know what body dysphoria is about. We realize that people with disabilities may have different sexual needs, and that people with survivor histories often have sexual triggers. We embrace a wide range of relationship types. We can be partners, lovers, friends with benefits, platonic sweethearts, chosen family. We can have very different dynamics with different people, often all at once. We don’t expect one person to be able to fulfill all our diverse needs, fantasies and ideals indefinitely.
Because our views on relationships, sex, gender, love, bodies, and family are so unconventional, we are of necessity anti-assimilationist. Because under the kyriarchy we suffer, and watch the people we love suffering, we are political. Because we want to survive, we fight. We only want the freedom to be ourselves, love ourselves, love each other, and live together. Because we are routinely denied that, we are pissed.
Queer doesn’t mean “don’t label me,” it means “I am naming myself.” It means “ask me more questions if you’re curious” and in the same breath means “fuck off.””

Holy Land USA was once an 18 acre Bible-themed park located in Waterbury, Connecticut. The park had about 40,000 visitors a year until it closed in 1984 for renovations. Holy Land USA never opened back up again due to the death of owner John Greco in 1986. It has been abandoned ever since. The abandoned acres of the theme park have been watched over by groups of nuns for decades, but the place keeps getting more and more creepy as the park continues to deteriorate.

On top of the vandalism and eeriness the park gives off, a teenager was murdered on these abandoned grounds in 2010. Since then police records have shown that the amount of trespassers have been decreasing which just means abandoned Holy Land USA is as creepy and deserted as ever.

This may be the least appealing theme park idea of all time.
